I was born and raised in London where I still live now. I was an only child so from an early age I learnt how to make the most of my imagination and would write lots of short stories in my spare time.
Did you always want to be an author?
Yes. However when I was eight, for about a few months, I was determined that I’d one day become a dentist but then I changed my mind again and went back to wanting to become an author.
What was your favourite subject at school?
Definitely English. I also loved PE and was in my primary school netball team like my main character Lolly.
Who was your favourite author as a child?
Roald Dahl. I absolutely loved his books and read them every night, just before bed. The Fantastic Mr Fox is my favourite book but I love The Twits which is hilarious. The Witches is great, but it did scare me a bit when I first read it.
How long did it take you to write Lolly Luck?
Approximately 10 months and a couple of more months to edit.
What's the best thing about being an author?
Not wanting to go to sleep because I want to keep writing and being so excited about waking up every morning so I can do more writing. I love the thrill of coming up with ideas, playing with the English language and developing characters as I take them on an emotional journey.
Aside from writing what other things do you like to do?
I love walking especially when the weather’s nice. I also enjoy going to the cinema and visiting art galleries.
